Fault location for distribution network is an important part of distributionautomation, for improving the reliability of power supply has a great influence on. Inrecent years, with the rapid development of national electric power industry, the powerquality, power supply reliability requirements are increasingly high, the traditionalpower distribution technology and management methods have been unable to meet thecurrent development needs, so the realization of distribution automation to improve thequality of power supply, to ensure the safe operation of electric power has importantpractical significance in engineering.In this paper the distribution feeder fault characteristics, and the analysis of theexisting FTU features and functions, the use of advanced DSP technology, design theoverall structure of the monitoring terminal fault location. According to the monitoringterminal structure, taking the AD company DSP chip ADSP-BF518as the main controlchip, design of monitoring terminal of the hardware circuit and the software, thehardware circuit includes analog signal acquisition circuit, serial communication circuitdesign software RS232, including program design of each module, the algorithm uses afirst-order difference and full-wave Fourier algorithm for data calculation, using shortcircuit over current breaking method and the total current algorithm for fault diagnosis.At the same time, based on the analysis of the existing fault location algorithm based onthe use of simple, improved matrix algorithm for fault section, realizes the rapidpositioning, non fault section uninterruptible power supply purposes.Finally on system performance testing device, in order to test the device inoperation on the processing speed and diagnosis algorithm can achieve the desiredobjectives, the results show that the device can accurately detect the fault in the musttime lines, have a certain industrial value.
