In recent years, with the rapid development of economy, the quality of our life ishighly improved. And the car ownership in our country has increased with such a superspeed owing to the highway construction. However, the growing number of bad dayshas given rise to more collision accidents. So if we can take some measures to make areal-time detection on the distance between the vehicles and obstacles, and then give analarming reminder to the driver before the collision, we will reduce a large part of theaccidents and property loss.This paper will introduce an early-warning system about the car perimeter securityto continuously measure the speed of the car and the distance between the vehicle andthe surrounding obstacles. There is a process on the algorithm of the main controllerearly-warning, which will get the required the information of the alarming status. Andwith the screen and acousto-optic alarming, the driver can make a correspondingoperation to keep a certain distance between the car and the obstacles to avoid thecollision.This paper studied the model of the distance early-warning system based on theactual environment of highway in our country, and then carried on a design of theoverall structure with the model. S3C2440is used as the main controller unit. EnhancedMCU STM32F103with Cortex-M3kernel serves as the unit for CAN/RS-232protocolconversion’s MCU. And the STC microcontroller with51kernel is the core of theacquisition unit, which includes multiple ultrasonic distance measurement units, GPSspeed unit and steering/braking/signal collection unit.It will make a detailed design ofboth hardware and software aspects according to the overall structure block diagram ofthe system. The utility software of the main control unit and the hardware and softwareof acquisition unit and protocol unit, are the main purpose of the design. CANcommunication mode, the most popular connecting method nowadays in auto industry,is adopted to ensure the reliability and real-time performance of the system. With thesimulation experiments in the laboratory, the function of each module is verified. Andthe results show that the system can effectively provide the animation and acousto-opticalarming, when the distance between the car and the obstacle is in the range ofreminding space or dangerous distance. In this way, the system can improve the active safety in the process of the driving and achieves the expected design requirements.
