In these years, our transportatio n bus iness has been develop ing rapid ly, and theroad network have been expanding, whic h really bring huge benefits to society, whilealso consuming a lot of resources and actua lly making a great negative impact to theenvironment. In countries actively promoting build a resource-conserving andenvironme nt-friend ly society, the problem about how to reduce the energycons umptio n of the related industries has been the focus of pe ople’s stud ies. Becausepave ment is a resource-intens ive product, it is necessary to ana lyze its energycons umptio n, to provide a strong theoretical bas is for project compared and evaluatedor mak ing re lated polic ies and regulations. In this paper, it gives a study for energy cons umption eva luatio n of pave mentstructure based on ana lyzing the characteristics and present s ituatio n of energy inChina. It used the basic theory o f the life cyc le assessme nt in the energy cons umptionof the pave ment structure, and then divided the paveme nt structure into fo ur life-cyclestages: materia l preparatio n phase, construction phase, operatio n and ma intenancephase and dis mantling and recycling phase after ana lyzing the cond ition of life-cycleenergy consumption o f the paveme nt structure. This paper establis hed a life-cycleenergy ana lys is mode l of the paveme nt structure on the basis of refere ncing andimproving the past similar model, then ga ve two numerical exa mp les taking the mosttwo commo n pave ment structure (asphalt p ave me nt structure and concrete paveme ntstructure) as specific object, fina lly got the compositio n and the consumption status ofmateria ls for the m.Learned from the ana lys is o f the results, the total e nergy cons umption of the twopave ment structure is little different, but the average annua l energy consumption ofthe asphalt pave me nt is2.17times tha n the concrete paveme nt, so concrete paveme nthas more advantages tha n the aspha lt paveme nt in the point of view o f energy-saving.The most significant impact in the total energy cons umption of the two paveme ntstructure is the materia ls preparation phase. Because asphalt mixture requires hightemperature when mixing, it needs more energy tha n the concrete pavement inconstruction phase. In operation a nd ma intena nce phase, the preventive ma intenanceprogra m produces less energy consumptio n than the overha ul progra m, so we can seethat the preventive ma intena nce progra m has better energy-saving effect. Indis mantling and recycling phase, if recycling waste, two p aveme nt structures would get a considerable a mount of add itiona l energy effic iency.
