The high way tunnel is a semi-closed environment. Relief work will harder and greaterlosses than ordinary roads once a traffic accident had take place. Therefore, it is particularlyimportant to control reasonably the mechanical and electrical equipments in order to reduceand prevent the occurrence of accidents in the tunnel. A complete set of equipment monitoringsystem just adapts to this demand, it can improve the driving environment and reduce theincidence of traffic accidents in the tunnel.The functions and composition of the high way tunnel monitoring system is described inthe paper. The traffic, lighting, ventilation and fire protection control systems of the Shenfuhigh way tunnel are designed. The traffic control schemes under normal and abnormal trafficconditions are proposed according to the actual operating situation and demand; Remotemanual control, time segment control and automatic control are adopted to meet the demandsof different seasons, climate, time and abnormal conditions. The ventilation pre-arrangedplanning adapted to the Shenfu highway tunnel is proposed after studying the required amountof wind in different situations.According to the specific operating conditions of the Shenfu tunnel, the tunnelmonitoring system PC monitoring software is compiled using Forcecontrol6.1configurationsoftware, to achieve the remote control of the tunnel electrical and mechanical equipments.Tunnel status information for a variety of electrical and mechanical equipments is collectedand controlled and the control program is compiled using Honeywell PLC in order to achievethe tunnel local area control of electrical and mechanical equipments. Ring industrial Ethernetis used to complete communication between the PC in monitoring center and PLCs in tunnels.The system is optimized on this basis, a ARM embedded system is adopted instead of the PLCto complete the functions of the equipment controllers in order to improve the performanceprice ratio of the system.The tunnel equipment control system has been put into operation since July,2012. Therationality of the design and the advanced nature is proved by the system reliability. The workdone in this paper has a certain theoretical and practical significance to research andapplication on the tunnel equipment control system.
