The Research On Student Center Design Of Xiamen University, Malaysia Campus

As the reforming of the higher education, there are a range of amelioration in the educational conception of university.For example, the proposition of the Whole Person Development, the emphasizing of the ontology that put student to the most important status in education and people pay more attention to science combines with humanity. Educational space extends from the classroom to other places, students integrate their study and live together. Student Center of university is becoming a very significant place for students’integrated development as it is sufficient for communication and activities.In this essay, the subject in study is Student Center of university, from the view of analysis the status and function that influenced by different higher educational conception, than make some investigation about the design of Student Center. Meanwhile, I will combine with the practice of some architectural design to make some consideration and discussion about the design of Student Center of Xiamen University at Malaysia that I take part in.This essay have three parts:The first section is introduction, illustrate something about the background, meaning, basic concept, reference study and the research method and research frame of this essay.The second section is Chapter2and Chapter3. Chapter2is something theory guiding, by analysis the educational concept of classical academy and the modern educational concept in China, western countries, Singapore and Malaysia, than make a research about the status and function of Student Center of university in different education environments to support the core viewpoint of this essay. Chapter3aim at the design concept of Student Center of Xiamen University at Malaysia, treat the educational concept that put the students to the most important position and the variability and open-ended of Student Center that cause by the developing of educational concept as the essentials of illustration, and give some support to the design research of Student Center of Xiamen University at Malaysia in the third section.The third section is the core section of this essay. To make some particular design research aim at Student Center of Xiamen University at Malaysia. Include planning, space system, function, outer space and research about architectural image. At last, summarise the research method of Student Center of Xiamen University at Malaysia in order to give some useful reference for Student Center and for this kind of architecture design.
