In today’s society, the use of electrical energy is almost everywhere due to the convenient foruse, easy transmission and wide range of sources. It has gone deeply into every family. Althoughthe electrical energy benefits mankind, it brings hidden trouble. The frequent electrical fire caused athreat to the safety of human. Also, it caused a great loss to society. In view of the huge influenceand extreme damage caused by electrical fire, both academia and industry have been trying to findan appropriate and effective method to prevent the electrical fire.At first, this paper analyzes the main causes of electrical fires, including the leakage of electric,short-circuit and overload. Then, it summarizes two main reasons of electrical fire indoor: the faultarc current and the use of illegal high power appliances. For these reasons, there are some detectiontechnology being introduced, such as AFCI, Duffing oscillator signal detection, wavelet transformto detecting fault-arc and power analysis, wavelet analysis to detecting high power appliances.After learning about the characteristics of fault-arc current and various types of current ofappliances, this paper designed methods to detect fault-arc in the current and recognize the type ofappliances. At the same time, it also designed the current signal acquisition system based on theSTM32MCU and the monitor platform of WEB technology. The monitor platform is based on thepopular B/S architecture. It can judge if there exist fault-arc and high power appliances by using thetechnology of recognition and fault-arc detection with the current data collected by current dataacquisition system. Then it will display the result on the monitor terminal browser. The wholesystem is connected by wireless communication technology. With the browser, the monitoringpersonnel can monitor real-time view of indoor electricity situation and take correspondingmeasures.Although there are many method of appliance recognition and fault-arc detection, few of themis put into practice. There is also lack of product of this field. Some products can only work withthe transient current. However, the transient characteristics have strong randomness and chance. Itwill lead to a lot of miscarriage of justice. Based on the current analysis and the use of statisticalfunction of software and database, the monitoring system can do a good job to avoid such problems.Therefore research of this topic is full of great significance and value.
