After several years of development, gas meter reading has changed from manual meter reading to remote meter reading.Remote meter reading in the market mainly includes hand-held terminal meter reading and automated meter reading.Hand-held terminal meter reading requires the meter reading personnel to carry the reading terminal to the site and collect gas meter data. This method requires lots of human resources.Automated meter reading involves wiring issues which are costly and difficult to scale up.In the past two years, the remote meter reading system that based on wireless transmission technology has gradually become a research hotspot. However, the technical solutions of this type of remote meter reading system have obvious flaws, and perform poorly in practical applications. This thesis firstly focuses the development status of the remote meter reading system both at home and abroad, and analyzes the deficiency of the existing remote meter reading systems.Secondly, analyzes the functional requirements of the meter reading system, and proposes an overall design scheme in conjunction with the latest technical means.Deeply study the key technology of data transmission based on LoRa,and then designs the hardware and software of the gas meter terminal and concentrator. Then analyze the management center software from a functional perspective. Finally, test the performance and summarize the remote meter reading system for gas,and look forward to the next step of system design.Firstly, combining the latest technical achievements in the fields of computer and communication, this thesis proposes a kind of remote meter reading system based on LoRa ad-hoc network and GPRS wireless communication network. The system consists of smart gas meter terminals,a communication system, and a management center. The gas meter terminal uses a low-power processor MSP430 for intelligent designing which completes gas meter data acquisition and uploads operations. The system uses E32 communication module to build up LoRa ad-hoc network. The concentrator interacts with the management center through the M6311 module. The E32 communication module adopts LoRa technology which based on chirp spread spectrum. The concentrator and the management center implement data transmission through the GPRS wireless communication network. The management center software is based on the B/S architecture to parse, manage, and store the received data.Secondly, design and implement the above-mentioned gas meter system. The smart gas meter terminal is equipped with a gas flow metering module. The gas meter terminal sends data to the concentrator through the LoRa ad-hoc network, the concentrator then uploads data to the management center through the GPRS mobile communication network. The gas meter terminal is designed functions with low-voltage data protection, upload flow balance, emergency treatment of gas leaks, and request for recharging. The management center is designed functions with register bindings, deposit deposits, upload monitoring, gas price adjustment and other functions. The system communicates through the LoRa ad-hoc network at the bottom layer,so that data transmission is more stable and reliable, with lower communication costs. The system adopts a low-power design mode to extend the life of the battery. The system is designed with well-functioning and user-friendly management center software to enhance the user experience. Finally, test the performance of the designed gas metering and charging system.First, build a hardware test platform consisting of a smart gas meter terminal,a concentrator,a debugging host,a management center host,a server and an external communication module. Then test all the target functions of the smart gas meter terminal and the management center and analyze the results.
