The Oversize Nursing Home Research On The Behavior Characteristics Of The Elder And Space Requirements

n recent years, as the arrival of the country’s aging problem, the number of disabled and semi disabled elders is increasing, which shows the great needs for caring and nursing. Family scales tend to minimize and Empty nests are going to increase as the performance of one-child policy and the society’s transformation. The shrink and structure changes of the family scales weaken the home-based care for the aged and steady increasing for specialized retirement organization.Recently our country’s facility systems for elders still not perfect, which are not divided according to their physical conditions and caring features. The facilities’function formation and space design are still lack of pertinence. The elder’s body function is a continuous changing and recessionary process, in which along with the constant changing of its behaviour and using requirements. Therefore, only with doing research and investigation、making sure the elders’conduct features of different healthy levels and the differences of space requirements, can we category facility types and design varieties of facilities scientifically and reasonably, which provides indispensable space support to improve pension service quality genuinely.Three super-huge and representative nursing homes in Beijing are selected in this article as the study objects. With interview and investigation, general information is comprehended, including building types、years of construction、nature of business, hotel situation, nursing staff and the elder’s opinions towards the facilities’usages.To draw the nursing home plan through the field measurements and make an observation towards the elder’s activities in convention centers,such as reading room、chess room、fitness room、multi-function room, etc, the convention center space and rooms where the elder mainly live. Recording the elder’s activity content、the place、the time、the activity route,etc and knowing about the usage of the space so as to analyze the behaviour and relevant space requirement of the elder’s different health stages. Based on the spatial constitution, relationship and scale, the above advice on spatial design has been promoted.The research findings of this article, on the one hand, can help provide super-huge nursing homes’scientific basis’design, covering elder’s different healthy stages, such as self-help、device-help and nursing care, which make the nursing homes meet the elder’s life behaviour features and make the sustainable housing come true. On the other hand, the findings can confirm its spacial formation function and be an important basis of each spacial design’s essential points when the facilities of nursing homes need to be subdivided and the special healthy stages elders as the service targets.
