In recent years, obviously, permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) arewidely used in industrial control, home air conditioners, electric vehicles and otherareas, the researchers pay more attention to the related control technologies. For thecontrol system of PMSM, particularly for the speed control system with using strategyof field-oriented control (FOC), rotor speed and position are two important parametersthat couldn’t be ignored. In order to solve this problem, we can install position sensorto get related information, but it can also be estimated by sensorless controlalgorithms, compare both of them, sensorless control algorithms motor systemapparently has more advantages, such as a low cost, small size, simple structure, highreliability etc.This paper is a study based on the above background. First, this paper introducesthe structure of motor, summarizes the basic principle and mathematical model ofPMSM, and discusses the control theory of PMSM and sensorless control technology;it also analyzes the principle and realization method of vector control technology,SVPWM and double-loop PI control etc. Secondly, this paper explains the principlesof model reference adaptive system (MRAS) and sliding mode observer (SMO), anddescribes the implementation of sensorless control of PMSM based on the twoestimation methods. Finally, in this paper, the object of research is the salient PMSM,modeling and simulation with MATLAB is the technical means. Then this paperrealizes and verifies two estimate methods of sensorless control based on MRAS andSMO, and analyzes the simulation results of the the speed and position estimations.
