Research On The Development Level Of Agricultural Modernization In Jiangsu Province

Agriculture is the base of the national economy. No agricultural modernization, no national economy modernization. Agricultural modernization means the procedure from the traditional, uncultured agriculture to the sustainable developed agriculture with the world’s advanced level. As a agricultural country, China has been paying great attention to the agriculture, the farmer and the rural area. Thus, Chinese agricultural got great achievement. But still, we are facing great challenge. We are short of agricultural resources, not to mention possession resource of per capita. Besides, the relationship between famer and land is getting worse. Famers get little profit from agriculture, and they prefer to working in the town rather than dealing with agriculture. To promote agricultural modernization, we should accurately know the characteristic of agricultural modernization, so that we can establish a scientific evaluation method of agricultural modernization to make true decision of agricultural modernization in different areas.Based on the principle of constructing an index system, with the latest data from China Statistical Yearbook (2003-2012) and Jiangsu Statistical Yearbook (2003-2012), this paper establishes an agricultural modernization index system, which includes four subsystems,22indexes. The four subsystems are conditions and means of agricultural production, agricultural output level, social development level in rural areas and sustainable development level. This paper uses the subjective and objective weighting method including the entropy method, the new three-dimensional dynamic gray relational analysis model, analytic hierarchy process, to make an evaluation of the agricultural modernization in Jiangsu province. This paper makes an evaluation of the agricultural modernization of Jiangsu province from2002to2011, of10provinces in the eastern China and of the13cities in Jiangsu province. The result shows that the total level of the agricultural modernization in Jiangsu province is positive; the level grade keeps improving quickly in the last ten years. In the first year of the twelfth five-year, Jiangsu agricultural modernization was almost mature. In eastern China, the agricultural modernization level of Jiangsu province ranks the fifth, falling behind the three municipalities, Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin. In the13cities in Jiangsu province, the agricultural modernization level in the southern area of Jiangsu is better, due to the great economy development.According to the evaluation results, this paper makes some suggestions, hoping to give some reference to making policies of agricultural modernization.
