In recent years, the efficiency of inorganic fertilizer in vegetable has been decreasing,and excess inorganic fertilizer caused soil salinization and pollution. As a new kind of organicfertilizer, vermicompost holds porous structure and is environmental friendly, and its has beenwidely used in horticulture plants production. In the present investigation, the effect ofvermicompost derived form chicken-cow mixed mannure on cucumber seeding and cowvermicompost on pot culturing cucumber was studied The main results were as followed:1. Vermicompost derived from chicken-cow mixed manure in different volume ratioswith vermiculite were used to culture cucumber seedlings. The results showed that nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium contents as well as EC increased with chicken mannure increaingin the complex media, while the seedling plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, root activity,seedling vigor index,chlorophyll content and photosyntheic rate to some extent. The resultsshowed that chicken-cow mixed manure in1:8volume ratios showed the best effect.2. Seedlings from above experiemnt were grown in greenhouse and were used tocaompare yield. The results showed that compare to control group (peat+vermiculite+nutrientliquid), chickern-cow mixed mannure vermicompost group significantly raised cucumberyield in the earlier period, and decreased the yield in the later period, and the maximum yieldin whole period existed chickern-cow mixed manure in1:8ratio group.3. The effects of vermicompost derived cow dung and cow dung compost in differentvolume ratios on rhizosphere environment quality and yield of cucumber were studied. Theresults showed that vermicompost and cow dung compost could significantly improve on thesoil environment and increase nutrient content, organic matter, soil enzyme in soil. Theconcentrations of free amino acid,soluble protein, soluble sugar, vitamin C were alsoenhanced. The fruit quality was improved and its yield was remarkably heightened. Compareto cow dung, vermicompost was better in the same volume ratio and25%treatment showedthe best effect.
