Rural residential land consolidation is a breakthrough in the construction of new socialist countryside. To actively promote this policy has important significance for the development of the industrialization of agriculture and Industrial Agglomeration, the protection of the ecological environment, as well as improving the rural consumption level. However, in recent years, the negative effects of fertilizer on the environment, caused by the excessive usage, draw more and more attention. Especially when the traditional rural farming conditions and farmers’ fertilization habits have changed, it may further exacerbate the tendency of farmers’ excessive fertilization, which becomes one of the main causes of China’s agricultural non-point source pollution. In view of this, this paper aims to observe and found out the situation of farmers’ fertilizer input change, discuss the influence mechanism on farmers’ fertilizer input change, either by the change of objective conditions or that of rural economic role in rural land consolidation area, determine the extent of main influence factors, and provide proper theoretical and empirical reference for the construction of management mechanism of land resources sustainable utilization. For this purpose, this study firstly systematically reviews the related literature at home and abroad about the rural residential consolidation effect, farmers’ fertilizer input factors and the rural relationship between residential land consolidation and farmers’ fertilizer input. On the basis of that, we define related concepts involved in this study, and employ the rural residential area consolidation theory, the theory of farmers, agricultural investment theory and factors analysis method as a theory basis. Then, the paper investigates the change trend of the farmers’fertilizer inputs before and after rural residential land consolidation. by nature-economy-society three-points division method, this study divides rural residential land consolidation area influence factors on farmers’ fertilizer input change into natural factors, economic factors and social factors, constructs an analysis framework to explain its mechanism, and attempts to explain several key factors that influence farmers’fertilization, by comparing them with the basic characteristics of peasant and consolidation difference features in the same theoretical model.Secondly, using the118sets of household data obtained from Jiangsu Haimen, Donghai County field research, the paper analyzes farmers’fertilizer input change situation in the survey area, consolidation pattern difference factors and farmers’ fertilizer application cognitive situation through descriptive statistics techniques. And according to the information revealed by theoretical analysis and descriptive statistics, we define the explanatory variables appropriately, and empirically tests farmers’fertilizer input change factors through the factor analysis method and multiple linear regression model. This study found that, first, in the rural residential land consolidation area farmers there tend to increase fertilizer input intensity, while the effect of the rural residential land consolidation should not be ignored; second, in different patterns of the rural residential land consolidation project, there was significant difference between the fertilizer input changes; third, compared to the natural factors, the impact of economy and labor factors on farmers’ chemical fertilizer input intensity is not significant; fourth, in the face of the external effect of the village land readjustment, the farmer’s own knowledge structure level and planting experience will affect their fertilizer input change decision. Finally, according to the research conclusion above, this paper puts forward some beneficial policy implications for people to promote the development of modern agriculture and realize the sustainable utilization of land resources, and prospects for the further research direction.
