LiYu is a famous dramatist from SuZhou in the end of Ming Dynasty,the beginning ofQing Dynasty.His plays concern about the current events and national situation.As ascholar–bureaucrat,LiYu satired the current malpractice in the social at that time andadvocated the thoughts of ethics.As a man of letters in the bottom of the society,he,like the other members of the group of dramatists in SuZhou,exposed the indifferentworld and human relationship in the money for the center of the society.Theirworks,full of the characteristic of LiYu’s plays,are cautionary tales and reflect theideals and interests of the townspeople. In view of the human relationship,this paperintends to make the analysis and explaination of the five representative plays of LiYuin detail.It also summarizes the subjective and objective factors behind the prosperityof the plays in the end of Ming Dynasty.So we can explore the townpeople’s aestheticacceptance and interests in the plays of the end of Ming Dynasty. The paper talksabout the influence and significance on the development of the dramas in the end ofthe Ming Dynasty made by LiYu’s creative work and the subject consciousness ofthe townpeople.
