With China advancing its opening-up policy and globalization picking the pace,there are more and more exchanges between China and the rest of the world. Englishand Chinese, as two important languages, play an instrumental role in the exchanges.Consecutive interpreting is frequently used in international communications. Thephenomenon of explicitation in interpreting attracts scholars’ attention. Explicitationwas discovered by scholars in translation studies, which mainly focused on westernlanguages. Chinese scholars studied translation between English and Chinese, andfound the phenomenon too. Compared with that of translation, there are few studieson explicitation in interpreting.The thesis reviews previous studies on explicitation, makes an analysis of the2012Premier Li Keqiang’s press conference interpreting, tries to classify explicitationfrom the micro perspective, explores its importance, the reasons why interpretersdeliberately or unconsciously adopt the strategy of explicitation and its potential risk,in hope of offering interpreting trainees suggestions. |
