There are a large variant forms of the same words among contemporary Chinese language.variant forms of the same words are kind of the linguistic verbiage, and their existence is goodfor nothing, because they can not only make the written language be in severe disorder,but alsogive us more difficulties in learning and using the language. Therefore, referring to thedistribution of variant forms of the same words from the book: The Graded ChineseSyllables,Characters and Words for the Application of Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of OtherLanguages, the author of this paper chooses much more popular textbooks which are used toteach Chinese as a foreign language, counts all variant forms of the same words of thesetextbooks, analyzes the results,and gives some suggestions on the analysis.First of all, there are some reasons about choosing this topic. So far in China there areseldom researches on the variant forms of the same words of the textbooks used to teach Chineseas a foreign language. And after lots of searching work, the author finds the research at thisaspect hardly exists, especially on the topic of connecting the variant forms of the same wordswith textbooks used to teach Chinese as a foreign language. All of these make the research benecessary and practical. Then, the paper will present a short summary of the research results onthe variant forms of the same words, The Graded Chinese Syllables,Characters and Words forthe Application of Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of Other Languages and textbooks used toteach Chinese as a foreign language. The author uses more popular textbooks to do researching,such as undergraduate Textbook Series Published by Beijing Language and Culture University,Boya Chinese,New practical Chinese Reader,Comprehensive Chinese, Senior Chinese Course,and builds a corpus based on these five textbooks.Secondly, according to “The First Series of Standardized Forms of Words withNon-standardized Variant Forms” and264Groups of Standardized Forms of Words withNon-standardized Variant Forms”(the Draft), the author adds up the distribution of NationalStandard of Chinese Characters Syllable Vocabulary Grading during Chinese InternationalEducation, finds out all the variant forms of the same words of the textbooks used basing on thestatistical result, and analyze the words.Thirdly, basing on the distribution of the words among the5textbooks, the authorconcludes how the words are used in the textbooks,especially finds out how every group ofwords are used, and then does the further explanation.Eventually, the existence of the variant forms of the same words among the contemporaryChinese is a normal phenomenon during the language development. As a result, when dealing with these words, we should base on the reality, but also to respect history, and should pay moreattention to the systematical, but also admit the specificity of evolvement. Besides, the authorpresents some advice to the future editors of those textbooks, basing on this research andanalysis.
