There are a certain number of predicate-object verbs in The Graded Chinese Syllables,Characters and Words for the Application of Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of Other Languages.Generally,predicate-object verbs do not have objects, but some of them have objects. However, there is a lack of systematic research on the situation of predicate-object verbs with objects.Based on the "lexical hierarchy division" part,370 predicate-object verbs in the vocabulary are selected as the research objects, and the gradation distribution of predicate-object verbs is counted.Through dictionary verification,predicate-object verbs are marked as predicate-object transitive verbs,predicate-object intransitive verbs,predicate-object transitive contradictory verbs,predicate-object transitive unknown verbs. Then, through the corpus retrieval,it examines whether the predicate-object verbs have objects in the corpus. Then, the probability of taking object, the semantic category of the object carried by the predicate-object transitive verbs, the intransitive verbs, the transitive verbs and the unknown verbs are investigated, and the evolution of the object-taking situation of the typical predicate-object verbs is analyzed by a case study.According to the above research,we conclude that most predicate-object verbs do not have objects;the object occurrence rate of predicate-object transitive verbs is higher, and the semantic category of objects is richer;the object occurrence rate of predicate-object intransitive verbs or transitive verbs is generally lower, and the semantic category of objects is simpler;whether predicate-object verbs can take objects is restricted by verbal lexicalization mechanism. Finally, according to the hierarchical distribution, object occurrence rate and object semantic category, some suggestions are put forward for teaching, textbook compilation and dictionary compilation. |
