The Study Of Teaching Strategies For Functional Words In Chinese

Without a lot of complex morphological changes, word order and function words are the main tools in Chinese to express grammatical meanings and semantic relations. As the function words in Chinese has different meanings and various ways to put in the sentence, it is difficult for foreign students to learn. For teachers who are teaching Chinese as a second language, it is also a hard part.This paper is trying to find some regulations and strategies for function words teaching by discussing three function words "zi""dou""le" and analyzing the mistakes from HSK tests.The paper is consisted of six sections.The first section mainly introduces the background of research, the status of research, the content of research and the method of research.The second section is about the teaching strategies for "zi" and suffixes. It discusses the usage of "le" from pronunciation, collocation and the grammatical function in the sentence. With the result of analyzing the mistakes of "zi", we found some ways to teach "zi" and suffix.The third section is about how to teach "dou" and adverbs in Chinese. This part discusses "dou" as a temporal adverb, a scope adverb and a modal adverb through grammatical meanings, syntactic positions and semantic meanings. And we concludes the teaching strategies with analyzing the mistakes of "dou" in HSK test.The fourth part is talking about teaching "le" in Chinese to foreign students. This part studies two "le"s and the mistakes of " le" in HSK test. At last it discusses about the how to teach "le" and accessory words.The fifth part is comparing all the strategies we talked about and gives some suggestions about teaching function words in Chinese.The sixth part is summarizing the content and also indicates the weaknesses.
