Teaching Research On Chinese Characters,Based On Analysis Towards Written Errors Made By Europe And American Chinese Learners

Writing Chinese characters is always a hard work for foreign students, especially for Chinese learners from Europe and American countries, meanwhile teaching Chinese characters or try to help foreign students remember how to write Chinese character is also a hard work for Chinese teachers. Through a survey to writing errors made by students of beginner’s level, elementary level and medium level from2012autumn semester in International Exchange College of Shenzhen University, the author find that students with different Chinese level make different errors in writing of Chinese characters. Beginners make most errors on strokes; the students from elementary level have low sense on structures of component and low ability to distinguish the components of a Chinese character, while students from medium level made more errors of the whole Chinese characters. The author analyzes the causes lead to the errors made by students from different levels seriatim, in consideration of learning strategy, learning motivation, strength of practice and teaching method. The reasons may include trading Chinese characters as pictures, weak on recognizing Chinese characters in short time, low sense on strokes and stroke orders, do not have enough practice. On the basis of the analysis the author presents her own suggestions on Chinese character teaching, in allusion to every error-cause, for example teach Chinese characters according to the rules on Chinese character’ learning, add some culture information when teaching the compositions and structures of Chinese characters; analyze Chinese characters with the same parts. The author sincerely wishes that these immature opinions will lead to future research on Chinese characters’ teaching, so that the quality of teaching and writing Chinese characters can be greatly improved.
