Severral Modal Words In Fangcheng Dialect

Fangcheng have a long history and its own unique dialect and slang. Fangcheng county is locatedin the southwest of Henan province which belongs to Nanyang city，Henan province on the administrativedistrict division.The center of using zones of Fangcheng dialect(this article referred to as Fangchenglanguage) is Fangcheng county，and radiative zone which extends from Sheqi county，Tanghe county，Nanzhao county，Ye county，Wugang distirct，northwast of Biyang，north of Tongbai county，northeastof Xinye county and southwest of Lushan county and so on. There are some small difference in the aboveareas including its consonants，vowels，tone system and vocabulary，however the basics can forming thesame system，Therefore the above areas are designated as Fangcheng dialect area.Due to the geographical environment，politics，history and many various aspects of factors，Fangcheng dialect are full of plain local breath and has a rich Jingchu flavor which are the valuableinformation of the study southern Henan dialect. With the promotion and popularization of mandarin，dialects are gradually replaced by mandarin.Therefore，the study and research of regional dialect is of greatimportance. The present study of Fangcheng language are rare，not to mention the study of modal word inFangcheng language.In this paper，the author try to reveal the features of Fangcheng modal word on thebasis of the dialect investigation，combine previous research results，and take a variety of methods.The dissertation is mainly constituted to three parts which are the introduction，contents andconclusion.Introduction firstly introduces the history and geographical division of Fangcheng county，descript the profile of the county’s dialect.The contents gives a brief introduction of the history and the present situation of modality studyin modern Chinese，modality current research situation in dialect and expounds the purpose of the researchand the reseach signification of this article.And then introduces “Zuo” and “Qing” two modal words whichare not appeared in mandarin，describes the different modal meaning of “Zuo” and “Qing”，related sentencepattern match，the omission of words and the comparison of the similar usage to other dialects of Henan province，so as to show its particularity.At last introduces modal words such as “Gan”，“Xing”，“Xiang” and “Guan” which can be seenin mandarin as well. The special meaning and usage of “Gan”，“Xing”，“Xiang” and “Guan” are describedin Fangcheng dialect. To find these differences can help us to better clarify the historical evolution processof Chinese language.In the end is the conclusion part，give a detailed summary of the modal words in Fangchengdialect，summarize its characteristics on the whole and put forward some questions which need to be solvedin the further study.
