Constructionism has extensively and substantially influenced the theory and practice of Chinese language teaching. As a theory based on the constructivism, the scaffolding instruction receive more and more recognition during educators and researchers both at home and abroad recently years. This research mainly analysis the application of scaffolding instruction in teaching Chinese as a foreign language from the macroscopic view.Full-text is divided into six parts. The first part introduces the researching background, content and aim of the study and expresses the time viewpoints in different research fields. The second part aims for the research on ontology of scaffolding instruction, and discusses the theory basis of scaffolding instruction under the guidance of the Construction Theory and so on. The third part discusses the feasibility of scaffolding instruction applied in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, which on the basis of throughout the history, current situation and development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The fourth part summarizes various types of Scaffolding Instruction in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and analyzes how the six strategies of Scaffolding Instruction, building support, getting into situations, independent exploration, co-operative study, effect evaluation and application, are used in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The fifth part using Primary Chinese comprehensive lesson, Intermediate spoken Chinese lesson and Senior Chinese literacy lesson as examples, verifies the effectiveness of scaffolding instruction in Chinese language teaching. With rethinking profoundly the scaffolding teaching combining with teaching practice, this paper finally explores its new road in the practical application of Chinese teaching, hoping to provide some reference to teachers and students.
