This thesis attempts to analyze the northeast regional culture in A Cheng’s shortstories from the perspective of regional culture. It not only makes the readers know moreabout the unique historical culture, folk culture and regional temperament, but also learnmore about the features of this region. At the same time, it makes the readers have acomprehensive understanding about the exiled persons in this region. The northern regionhas always been exiled place. In ancient times, many prisoners were sent here, so that theysettle down here. The thesis gives a summary of the exiled persons, who were forgotten inthe history; it makes them known to the world. There are not only Chinese, but also manyforeigners among the exiled persons because of war and other factors. A Cheng recordsthese unfortunate and lucky fugitives with his sincere brushwork. They come to his piece ofland and try to live here where provides them with food and clothing, shelter them from theharassment of w. They also brought colorful buildings, songs, languages here, which makegood fusion with the native culture. It leaves northeast the colorful culture and movedstories.The thesis is divided into three parts. The first chapter mainly analyzes the specialregional features of northeast from three aspects. The first aspect is the history and cultureincluding the cold northern climate, the basement and Kang to resist the cold, the uniqueHu temperament and the Shamanism, which is fear of natural; second aspect is from theperspective of folklore including the unique regional dialect, regional food and culture ofsong-and-dance duet; the third aspect is from perspective of the geographical temperamentto analyze the natives’ the wild emotion and the disposition of personal loyalty in thisregion,.The second chapter classifies the exiles in this region according to the characteristicsof this region, where was the of northeast exile place since ancient times. The first group isthe foreigners with the belief of God. They come here because of war and other reasons.They regard here as their second home. Leading a hard life, they make the soul connectionthrough their own homemade buildings, songs, language with God and their home town.The second group is the stream of exiles forgotten by history, who are sent to the cold land,facing the tough conditions, they still lead a poetic and strong life, such as fishing, huntingbear, deer. The third group is the grass-roots exiles. they are engaged in the bottom ofmanual labor. They often appear in the streets and back lanes, but no one knows theirnames. They worked harder than anyone else in life, only to the careful belief in theirhearts.The third chapter analyzes A Cheng’s novelette and short stories from the perspectiveof narrative. A Cheng likes to use the internal focalization to experience the beginning and ending of the story with readers. And sometimes he also leads readers to think on theoutside of the story with integration of the internal focalization and zero focalization.Sometimes he will give some comments. A Cheng analyzes the implicit and intention of thestory through the communication among the characters to give the reader thinking space.
