Since1990s, to cultivate and improve students’ learner autonomy awareness and learner autonomy capability has become the important content of the foreign language education at home and abroad. Professional English Teaching Syllabus of College(2004), formulated by the ministry of higher education, defines that cultivating the students’ English learner autonomy capability and cultivating students’ independent thinking capability as ultimate education targets, and points out that the goal of college English teaching is to develop students’English comprehensive application capability, especially listening and speaking skills, make them in the future study, work and social activities can communicate effectively in English. Therefore, to cultivate and improve students’listening learner autonomy capability is particularly significant.With the implement of cultivating and improving students’ learner autonomy, education experts and scholars looking for ways to improve students’academic performance from different angles. Learners’ autonomy capability and the learners’ individual differences, such as learning motivation, learning strategies, learning style have great connections. Literature shows that learning Strategies, as the most dynamic factors affecting learner autonomy capability, has a certain influence on learners’ autonomy capability. It has been attracting the attention of educators at home and abroad. There are many studies on learning strategies and learner autonomy abroad and in China. However, not many studies have explored the relationship between listening strategies and learner autonomy during the process of listening comprehension.This research is mainly devoted to the following questions:1.What kinds of listening strategies do the English majors intent to use in the process of listening? Is there any tendency difference in different gender?2. How do the English majors do in their listening learner autonomy? Is there any difference in different gender?3. What is the relationship between listening strategies using and learner autonomy proficiency in listening at different levels? Is there a gender difference?The participators are the English majors (2010) from College of Science and Arts, Yangtze University. Two questionnaires and a TEM-4paper are employed in this study.
