Nowadays, people increasingly are fond of reading documentary books. But now the limited translation of these English texts by foreign writers results in the population of Chinese readers to them being very small. Therefore, it is a very important research theme that how to make the translation of documentary books better. The content of these texts is real and authentic and the language, plain concise and vivid. When translating this kind of books, we should abide by the three principles of Skopos theory i.e. skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule in order to tell readers a real story.This article, guided by the Skopos theory, taking American Wheels Chinese Roads: The Story of General Motors in China as the original text for translation, is trying to explain how the strategies chosen according to statistics in the translation process. Meanwhile, case study will be used to explore and discuss the factors that influence the translation strategies. Finally, it explains the translation skills application in line with the translation strategies. |
