This thesis is the translation report based on Ego Is the Enemy, which belongs to a kind of inspirational book. The author, Ryan Holiday, is the famous analyst and writer in strategy and business, he creates many bestsellers. According to the latest research, he cites a lot of well-known celebrities' cases to illustrate the principle that ego is the enemy.So everybody can be guided to treat egoism properly as well as promote their own development and make progress. As we know, Ego Is the Enemy is a kind of mental self-help book. It can help us to recognize egoism deeply and clearly, and to avoid blind,decisive and arrogant aspect. Then we can totally take advantage of positive energy of egoism and achieve success. Ego Is the Enemy has an important effect on realizing the outlook on life and value, so translating this book is very meaningful. This translation report takes "Skopos Theory" as the theoretical foundation. The report selects the preface,introduction and the first chapter as the translation blueprint. In the process of combining theory and practice, it is important to fully explore the psychological language characteristics of inspirational books as well as translation difficulties, which is helpful to summarize the translation methods and techniques.This report is divided into three chapters.Chapter one introduces the basic background information, including the author and the book as well as the research purpose and significance.Chapter two describes translation process. They are pre-translation preparation,translation process and proofreading phases. Pre-translation preparation includes checking new words, understanding the cultural background information, and choosing the translation tools. Translation process includes translating according to content, time and speed. Proofreading phases includes checking the grammar mistakes, summarizing the translation strategies so as to finish the report successfully.Chapter three is case analysis. Guided by Skopos theory, the translator fully explores the stylistic characteristic of inspirational books. Facing the translation difficulties of language difference between Chinese and English, long and difficult sentences as well as name translation, the translator respectively comes up with literal translation and free translation, restructuring and splitting as well as transliteration, and giving the concrete examples to summarize translation methods.The last part is to summarize the whole translation process and analyze the deficiency in the translation. When dealing with such a translation text, how the translator should do to finish it well.
