Against the backdrop of globalization, more and more foreign enterprises enterthe Chinese market. Liaison interpreting becomes very common with the increase ofcross-cultural communications, during which interpreters play a very important role.This report is based on the author’s interpreting practice for the president of amultinational company. In the practice, the author acted as a liaison interpreter duringthe president’s visit at different stores including the ones located in Dongguan,Jiangmen, Shenzhen and Foshan. Through analyzing the selected task in Foshan, theauthor found out some strategies for liaison interpreting. The report is divided intofive parts. The first part is task description. The second part is process description,which includes pre-task preparation, on-site knowledge acquisition and post-taskmodification. In the third part, she analyzes some typical cases. In the fourth part, shereflects on the task. In the fifth part, she draws a conclusion.Through this report, the author hopes to find out the challenges of liaisoninterpreting and come up with some skills. She also hopes that this report can helpother interpreters to better cope with liaison interpreting in the future.
