Interpreting Tactics In Liaison Interpreting From The Perspective Of Visibility Consciousness

With China's rapid economic and social development,business activities between China and the rest of the world have become more and more frequent.Interpreters play an indispensable part in business exchanges and cooperation among different countries.However,interpreters are often ignored and regarded as invisible middlemen for bilingual information transformation.Since the 1970 s,many scholars have frequently raised the concept of visibility consciousness.They believe that it is impossible for interpreters to remain completely invisible.Having a clear understanding of the role of interpreters guided by visibility consciousness can affect the coping tactics that the interpreter adopts.The report records the author's liaison interpreting experience in Lancaster-China Catalyst Programme.In the report,the author describes the preparation before the task,on-spot interpreting and post-task evaluation,and then intends to explore the coping tactics in liaison interpreting as well as how to give full play to different roles of interpreters based on visibility consciousness,thus providing more references for future interpreters.
