It is generally acknowledged that the model particles in Chinese language are one ofthe most important tools to express emotion and attitude, which is as well as adifficult part for both English-spoken learners and Chinese teachers because of itslarge amount and complicated usage. Among the model particles, we classify theminto typical model particles and non-typical ones, in which the typical ones are morefrequently used in our daily life, and thus are more easy to be misused because ofinappropriate learning strategies of foreign learners. We choose four of the typicalmodel particles “啊,吗,呢,吧”as our research target, hoping to offer suitableteaching strategies after counting and analyzing English and American students’errors in using these typical model particles. We also hope to promote the modelparticles-acquiring of these group of students.
