This thesis consists of an excerpt from the The Belief in Immortality and theWorship of the Dead(Lecture1)and the corresponding report on translation, whichtells about religious origin and research methods adopted by the author. The authorexpounded on the definition of theology and religious origin dogmatically, philosophically, and historically and gave a detailed discussion on one of the researchmethods, which is the historical method. This writing is a logically rigorous workabout the study of theology and religious origin. The translator chooses “functionalequivalence” as the criterion to guide the process of translation. In the translation ofwords, the translator analyzes the relationship between polysemous words and context. In the translation of sentences, the translator chooses the traditional methods. Afterfinishing this translation task, the translator deeply believes that translation is a kindof creative, tough and complex work. To be a qualified translator is by no means aneasy job, it needs comprehensive quality and a sense of responsibility.
