Report On The Translation Of The Speech At The Summit Of MSC-COC

This is a translation project report on the translation of the Speech at the Summit ofMSC-COC. Marine Stewardship Council has established two international standards toenhance the security administration of fishing products, one is Chain of Custody Standard, theother is Environmental Standard for Sustainable Fishing. The focus of the Chain of CustodyStandard has really been on the sustainability of fishing products to ensure the security andintegrity of the fishing products in each link of the supply chain. Environmental Standard forSustainable Fishing has always given prominence to the ecological environment preservationin the fishing process. The main function of this summit of MSC-COC is to introduce theaccreditation details for the fishing companies in Asia-Pacific region and those in China atlarge, thus enhancing the improvement of each enterprise in this industry.The author has tried to analyze the translation methodology for conference interpretationwith specific examples on the basis of the following two theories: information generalizationand adaptation theory by Verschueren. The thesis writer puts emphasis on different levels oftranslation methodology: transference of parts of speech (conversion), translation skills atword-level, skills in sentence interpreting and generalization. Meanwhile, the author alsopresents the problems and the methods to solve them during the translation, aiming to helpother translators who have the same or similar problems or puzzles in translating.
