A Study On Leibnize’s Theory Of Truth

The truth is an old topic, often talked about and pursued by people. As a figure ofencyclopedia, Leibniz also has much more theory in truth. It has important theoreticalsignificance and practical significance to study Leibniz truth theory. From logic level,Leibniz expatiates on a concept of containing and identity with identifying “thetruth”(logical truth) standards through monadology; the possible world theory establishedthe theoretical basis for the birth of possible world semantics and the development ofmodal logic. From philosophy level, Leibniz truth theory helps us to further deepen theunderstanding of sensory experience and is of great realistic significance for the functionsof sensory experience.The full text mainly is divided into three parts to state Leibnitz truth theorysystematically in this paper. Firstly, the paper analyzes the background and process ofLeibniz truth theory, considering the epistemology to modern philosophy is thebackground of Leibniz truth theory. Leibniz’s examination of the subject and objectaccompanies the produce process of theory of truth. Secondly, the main content of Leibniztruth theory are discussed in this paper. It argues that the main predicate logic, the divisionof the truth and the possible world theory may constitute the building of Leibniz truththeory. Subject-predicate logic suggests Leibniz truth standard tendency; division of truthmakes the truth of the reasoning and the truth of the facts in place; the creation of possibleworld theory not only perfected the Leibniz theory of truth, but also had a huge role inpromoting the language logic and modal logic. Finally, the article focuses on the Leibniztruth theory into two evaluation, which discusses positive significance and limitations ofthe Leibniz truth theory.The research achievements of domestic and foreign experts and scholars involved allaspects of the Leibniz theory of truth and even individuals have made a very in-depthresearch of Leibniz truth theory. However, few people discussed Leibnitz truth theory as acenter specially and comprehensively in detail, integration and system. This paperattempts to get a more complete interpretation of Leibniz truth theory on the basis of the existing research results.
