With increasing demand of exchange and broadcast of traditional Chinese medicine,Interpreters face various kinds of challenges. The translation of Chinese ancient philosophicaltheory and classical Chinese style of writings that is hard to understand is one of the biggestchallenges.The interpreting practice is the consecutive interpreting of associate professor QuLimin’slecture series—the Medicine Classic of the Yellow Emperor and Chinese style oflife-preserving. The thesis is an introduction, study and summary of this interpreting practice.The report includes five parts: task description, procedure description, preparation beforetranslation, case analysis and summary. Task description and procedure description give anoverall introduction about the task. Preparation before translation mainly includes the analysisof lecture and the comprehension of background information.Case analysis is the essence of the report. On completion of the preparation beforetranslation, the interpreter gives successful examples of consecutive interpreting of the longand difficult sentences under the guidance of interpreting methods and skills combines withtranslation skills of writings in classical Chinese style. Through the practice, the interpreterhas accumulated various kinds of characteristic languages and terms. According to theinterpreting methods and knowledge of Chinese style life-preserving theory, the interpreterhas analyzed the successful and improper cases during the process of interpreting, andsummarized the interpreting skills and coping strategies in the translation of traditionalChinese medicine and life-preserving theory. Faithfulness is the primacy when interprets theclassical literature of traditional Chinese medicine. On the basis of faithfulness, simplicity isalso required. When dealing with the transcultural contents, the interpreter should not cater tothe custom of the target language blindly. The lingering charm of the source language should be kept as the interpreter’s vocabulary storage allows.
