Project Report On The Consecutive Interpreting For The Golden Land-Myanmar National Promotion Conference At The 13^th China-ASEAN Expo

The author took part in the consecutive interpreting for the GoldenLand-Myanmar National Promotion Conference 2016 at the 13th China-ASEAN Expo.The year 2016 marked the 25th anniversary of China-ASEAN Dialogue Relations.The theme of this China-ASEAN Expo is"Jointly Building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road,Forging a Closer China ASEAN Community of Common Destiny".This Expo has great significance to deepen the reginal connectivity,strengthen mutual cooperation,open up the free trade market and promote all-round communication.This report includes five parts:task description,pre-interpreting preparation,case study,interpretation quality assessment and conclusion.The first part is task description,which briefly introduces the task delegation,background knowledge and requirements of the promotion conference.The second part presents the commission and communication,allocation of preparation time,language and psychological preparation conducted before interpreting.In the third part,under the guidance of the Daniel Gile's Comprehension Equation,the author analyses the interpreting cases of numbers,four-character structures,vague expressions,logical reorganizing,null subject sentences and long difficult sentences from the lexical and syntactic level and their respectively coping tactics.There are three sections in the fourth part,including standards of interpreting quality assessment,self-evaluation based on standards and the feedback from the client and participants.At last,the author summarizes the thoughts and inspirations during the consecutive interpreting task.Meanwhile,the author mentions the importance of the introspection as well as the perseverant and exploring spirits,which has very important effects on consecutive interpretation and it should be used to improve the future interpreting career.This project report aims at introspecting and checking the shortcomings of the interpretation work and exploring further improvement to provide some innovative insights and suggestions for interpreting learners.
