With the rapid development of international academic exchanges, more and more people pay close attention to the translation of academic works. In order to better introduce the most famous theoretical works, especially the works of Homi K. Bhabha, the one of the most important combatants within the camps of postcolonialism, into China, disseminate theoretical ideas and conception, promote it thriving and prosperous in domestic academia healthily, and make it better be accepted and ingrained into the world theoretical thinking, the author of this thesis chooses "Postcolonial Criticism" of Bhabha as the translation practice. In the process of translating, the author of this thesis almost uses up all her energy and knowledge due to the unique language style, peculiar long sentences and obscure academic terminologies, etc. And in order to keep close to the fidelity and readability of the translation and make the reader accept and understand the original text better, the author of this thesis borrows and employs Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory.This thesis is divided into three parts:the introduction part, the main body and the conclusion. In the first chapter, the author of this thesis introduces current situation of academic translation and then introduces research problems concerning translating Bhabha’s work and the overall structure of this thesis. In the second chapter, the author elaborates the theoretical base from Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory and then reveals the significance of borrowing this theory. In the third and forth chapters, the author points out that a qualified translator, especially a translator of academic works should be provided with specific attainment and extensive knowledge from the complicate culture, religion and political background before translating. And then the author illustrates the most difficult problems in the process of translating:translation of difficult and long sentences and academic terminologies, pointing out that the significance of borrowing Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory.
