Imperial edict is special for emperors to give orders, so it is an indispensable part for scholars to do the researches for imperial edict when they do the researches for literature of different dynasties, stylistics, and politics and so on. Imperial edict gets its official formation and customization in Western Han Dynasty, when Emperor Wu of Han fundamentally promoted the great shift of imperial edict in language and form. During the time, imperial edict had such unique features as followed:1.the language was very elegant and beautiful;2.the form changed from simple style sentences to parallel sentences;3.the amount increased sharply;4.the content was rich and various;5. it had very distinct individuation. This article analyze from the text, especially do the specific researches for82imperial edicts written by Emperor Wu of Han. According to the study, imperial edicts of punitive expedition can perfectly show the military strategies of Emperor Wu of Han. And all kinds of imperial edicts also can show Emperor Wu of Han’s political thought "the doctrine of law and Confucianism". The vast majority of imperial edicts were written by Emperor Wu of Han personally and his personality, such as bold and generous temper, confidence, decisions, erudition and had the courage to bring forth new ideas, all was showed in the imperial edicts. In addition, literature features in imperial edicts written by Emperor Wu of Han have a great influence on contemporary and future literature.
