In recent years, another kind of Bei-structure, which can be called deviatedBei-structure, came into being first on the Internet, and soon gets popular. Sharing a similarstructural formation with traditional passive Bei-structure, deviated Bei-structure followsthe structural formation as “Bei+X” in which the component X has a diversified choice inword category. Usually intransitive verbs, nouns and adjectives are the most commoncomponent after Bei.Through the analysis on a large number of deviated Bei-structure examples, thisthesis is trying to generalize some typical syntactic and semantic features, and also to findout the factors that make deviated Bei-structure popular. In the thesis, a definition ondeviated Bei-structure is presented. And the major categories of deviated Bei-structurehave been made according to the component after Bei. In terms of syntactic features, deviated Bei-structure derives from traditional passive Bei-structure, but NP2in the latteris usually hidden in deviated Bei-structure. In terms of semantic features, such structureimplies an unhappy event that is against the receiver’s free will. This thesis has listed the external factors and the internal factors for the prevalence ofdeviated Bei-structure. The notion of empathy and the passing on of vicarious feeling haveplayed a significant role, moreover, media influence, people constant seeking for noveltyand the social status of the receiver in deviated Bei-structure will push the prevalence ofthis structure. This thesis has also put forward the pedagogic implication to extend the existingresearch on this topic.
