Over the last20or30years, more and more scholars both at home and abroad wereconcerned with the research field of sense of humor.they discussed theories of sense ofhumor, definition of sense of humor, nature of sense of humor, structure of sense of humor,styles of sense of humor,neural mechanism of sense of humor, mechanisms that sense ofhumor act on mental health, humor practice, development features of sense of humor andother content. In general, researches on sense of humor are becoming more and more refinedand systematic. Some scholars have achieved new breakthroughs in theories of sense ofhumor and humor practice.Tian Wei-cui et al argue that the sense of humor is an integrated habitual tendency ofcognizance, emotion and behavior during an individual’sprocesses of accepting, appreciating,expressing and creating humor. It is an individual difference and contains four levels,namely, humor accepting level, humor appreciating level, humor expressing level, and humorcreating level,and they are arrayed from high to low.It provides a new angle to the researchfiled of sense of humor. This essay will explore the substantive difference among the4levels;difference among the4levels’mental health; humor practice aims at the third level to enhanceits ability to creat humor, hoping that it can reach the fourth level.Primay conclusions of this essay are as follows:Firstly,(four kinds of humor)in general, subjects(all of them are college student) abovethe second humor level(including the second level,the same below) enjoy humor materialmore than subjects of the first level. Among levels above the second level, subjects of thehighest level enjoy humor material more than subjects of the third and second level.Secondly, To be specific, on dependent variable laughing at yourself humor andaggressive humor, subjects above the seond humor socres more than subjects of the first levelsignificantly.Thirdly, generally, subjects of the highest humor level have better ability to creat humorthan subjects below the third level.Fourthly, generally, subjects of the highest humor level have better mental health thansubjects below the third level.Fifthly, the effect of the course of creating humor practice of this essay to enhance thesubjects of the third level’s ability to creat humor is not ideal.After accepting humor practice,students of humor accepting level don’t turn into humor creating level.
