Strategies For Overcoming The Barriers In Guide Interpretation Caused By Ethnic Culture In Xinjiang

As one of the regions with strong multi-ethnic cultural connotations, Xinjiangattracts people around the world with its unique charm. With the implementation ofthe strategy of western development and the measures put forward in the workconference in Xinjiang, the development of tourism in Xinjiang ushered in newopportunities. The whole world needs to know more about Xinjiang, and Xinjiang hasto present its unique culture to foreign friends. As the media of cultural exchanges intourism, guide interpretation is of great importance. However, the current situation ofguide interpretation in Xinjiang is disturbing and unsatisfactory. It is not only due tothe shortage of qualified bilingual guide-interpreters and effective tourist references,what really matters is that guide-interpreters are lack of cross-cultural awareness andsensitivity, which make them awed in interpreting these cultural elements, accordingly,errors occurring would definitely influence the quality of tourist service.Based on the current situation of guide interpretation in Xinjiang, this paperdiscussed the difficulties caused by multi-ethnic culture in guide interpretation underthe guidance of Skopostheorie by combining theory with practice. In addition, thispaper discussed and elaborated the principles and strategies of interpretingmulti-ethnic cultural elements in guide interpretation on the basis of the analysis ofabundant examples.The discussion on the strategies of ethnic culture interpretation in this paper willundoubtedly supply more information in the research of guide-interpreting in Xinjiangand facilitate guide interpreters with effective guiding theory, which will improve thecurrent situation of guide interpretation in Xinjiang. In addition, this study willcomplement and improve the theoretical system of the translation of ethnic culture,and play a positive role in enriching modern translation theory. Meanwhile, this studywill promote the long-term development of tourism industry and stimulate thetransmission of multi-ethnic culture in Xinjiang.
