The purpose of translation action is to satisfy clients’ requirements by providing themwith language services. Thus it is essential for the translation-producers tocommunicate with their clients timely and effectively, for the sake of fullyunderstanding the specific requirements and improving translation quality. Thenwhich types of communication can be used, and how will they influence thetranslation quality? This thesis attempts to answer these questions with a case studyon the translation of NAP fashion website. Firstly, it gives a brief introduction toGerman Functionalist Translation Theory and the client’s requirement-orientedlanguage services. Then it illustrates three kinds of communication types, followed bythe analysis of translation quality improvement on the aspect of style, accuracy andreadability by comparing the differences between the original version of translator andthe revised version of the client. The communication types mentioned in this thesis,with good feasibility and effect, may provide some lessons for the translation industry.
