Texts of science and technology play an ever increasingly prominent role in the translation market as globalization progresses. This thesis departs from a text of science and technology-Integral Urbanism, comprehensively describes the translation process according to the commonly accepted European Quality Standard for Translation Services:EN15038and is written into a translation project report under the theoretical framework of relevance theory. This thesis aims to demonstrate the influence of translation theories on translation practices. And by solving problems arising from the translation process, the report aims to produce possible translation methods for texts on urban planning in the same category as Integral Urbanism.Chapter1will present the background information about the original text, the client, requirements for the translation and characteristics of the source text.Chapter2will introduce the translation process, which relates to translation preparations, translation strategies and arrangements after translation. Preparations for the translation involve translation task assignment, selection of translation aids and translation schedule.Chapter3will address problems encountered in the translation of Integral Urbanism on the lexical and syntactical level and in terms of discourse consistency. Solutions to these problems are proposed by resorting to relevance theory and translation tactics are employed to realize optimal relevance in contexts.Chapter4will summarize the translation of Integral Urbanism, points out unsolved problems, offers thoughts on them and gives an overall evaluation on the translation performance of Integral Urbanism. This thesis appears more practical than theoretical.
