With the rapid economical development, coffee has become the second largesttrading goods after oil. More and more people become coffee consumers, and evencoffee lovers. People thirst for knowledge and culture of coffee can only be filledfrom books or videos, but most of the domestic coffee books just for the shop orbarista, books for consumers and enthusiasts are few. Most coffee-related books andvideos are also written by foreign language, so the translation of this project cangreatly improve the coffee consumer awareness of the coffee and the coffee culture,it can also fill the blank of introduction of coffee in China.The author put the translation of All About Coffee from the U.S. National CoffeeAssociation as the case to study the translation strategies of information text.Informative text’s characters are objectivity and information. This type of text isdesigned to provide readers the integrity of the person or thing clear message withobjective and standardized language which dedicated to convey certain ideas orinformation. As informational text, Newmark proposed to be taken thecommunicative translation principle, in order to make the target audience get asmuch information as the source language readers. The author analyzes the translationstrategies of the informative text under the guidance of the translation principle.During the process of translation, I adopted the translation theory of Germanfunctionalist and text analysis theory to guide the practice of translation.Summarizing up the problems and the using of translation skills and strategies in theprocess of translation, I also explore the professionalism the translator should have.In this paper, through the summary of the project translation process, I hope it canhelp the coffee practitioners and the majority of coffee consumers to learn moreabout coffee from a professional point of view and to promote coffee expertisepopularity in China in some ways.Combined with the related translation theories, the author put forward to information accurately and reader-centered translation strategies according to the actual problemsappear in the translation. Based on the current situation of English translation of theinformation in our specialty coffee, the author raises the translation occupationaccomplishment th me guidance and reference for coffee and coffee professionalEnglish translator through this project research.e coffee English translators shouldhave: solid language skills, a wide range of knowledge, comprehensive ability andgood occupation moral.
