Education is the foundation of a country.The importance of education is self-evident to both a nation and an individual.Among all the schooling stages,the primary education is particularly critical.With the rapid development of economy and technology in China,traditional educational concepts and educational methods are also facing big challenges.Therefore,the introduction of advanced educational concepts and the study of new types of education are of great significance.However,the translation work of foreign advanced educational concepts introduced on the market is very limited,so the translation of educational texts is totally necessary.The source text for the translation practice is the fourth and fifth chapter of Making Literary Real,an educational book published in October 2014.The book was co-authored by Joanne Larson and Jackie Marsh.Through a large number of case studies,the authors analyzed the practices of mainstream education theories applied in classrooms,which has important guiding significance for educational practices.This translation report is divided into four parts:The first part is the description of the translation task,which mainly introduces the source text,its co-authors,the main idea,and the significance of this translation practice,etc.The second part summarizes the translation process,including the preparation before translation,the first translation version,the second version,proofreading and the final polishing;the third part is the cases analysis,which is the core content of this report.The author uses the text typology theory as the guidance,and analyzes the original text from three aspects:vocabulary,syntax and text.Through the research and analysis of the classic cases,the communicative translation is discussed.This part is a reflection of the main theme of the paper;the fourth part is the reflection of my translation practice in which I states my feelings,summarizes the deficiencies and the improving methods in this translation practice from several aspects.In the process of translation practice,I have recognized the importance of the pre-translation preparation work,and a translator cannot ignore the significance of the guiding theory.The cases I presented reflected the translation characteristics of the pedagogy text under the guidance of Text Typology Theory.In addition,I was aware of the shortcomings and weakness of my own language skills,and hope that the experiences and lessons obtained in this paper will help me to do better in the future translation work.
