With the increase of China’s foreign trade, the trade contacts as well as the trade frictions between China and Western countries become more and more frequent, especially in the intellectual property field relating to patents. The patent protection is not in the place which has caused a lot of problems. In order to better solve the disputes of intellectual property including patent laws, raise the awareness of intellectual property, get to know different patent laws and judicial precedents of different countries, we should translate related contents of patent laws and that will become more and more important. The author discusses many translation principles of patent laws through translating Compensatory Damages Issues in Patent Infringement Cases. The author discusses the principles of accuracy, normativity and conciseness. The key principle of legal translation is accuracy which requires us to express what the author wants to refer to, not change or misinterpret the meanings of the originals. Normativity means that the orginals should be translated in a formal and definite way. The author also discusses the principle of conciseness. In principle, its most important feature is to use simple and concrete sentences to express different legal concepts. Studying these principles may bring a certain amount of edification to understand and translate legal related resources.
