A Reflective Research Report On Chinese-english Interpretation Of National Treasure Files

In the21st century, especially since the reform and opening up, with China’s risinginternational status and increasing influence, more and more foreign friends hope to learnmore about Chinese culture. In the meantime，in order to help them better understandtraditional Chinese culture and promote cultural exchanges between China and othercountries, we need to do a good job of publicity translation. It can not only improve China’scultural "soft power", but also protect and push forward traditional Chinese culture. As acultural carrier, television has played a very important role in it. In recent years, someexcellent documentary television programs such as National Treasure Files have achievedhigh praise among domestic and overseas Chinese. Therefore, it is of great importance toimprove the quality of the publicity translation of such programs.Based on two episodes of National Treasure Files(Uncovering the secrets of theYongzheng Emperor and The Beauty of Kiln—Chinese chessboard of Northern SongDynasty), this thesis attempts to discuss the publicity translation of it and change thetraditional form of translation and try to improve the quality of publicity translation fromthe perspective of Chinese-English interpreting. The purpose of this thesis is to provide areference for the future publicity translation of such programs. The thesis includes fourparts: the characteristics of National Treasure Files；the difficulties in the process ofinterpreting；the causes of the difficulties and the corresponding interpretation strategies；the self-assessment and feedback from the audience.
