| The interpretation of complex sentences poses a big challenge to interpreters in English to Chinese consecutive interpretation for their length, complexity, various forms and lots of information. Starting with the definition and the features of complex sentences, the thesis analyses the differences between English and Chinese in terms of thought patterns and syntactical structure. Then, according to these analyses and the interpreting practice of the author of the thesis of Barack Obama's State of the Union Address in 2014, the thesis summarizes the strategies used in the practice. It is hoped that these strategies will enable the learners of interpreting to improve their interpreting skills and provide some reference to them for self-improvement. |
