Report On Chinese-english Simulated Interpretation

Due to its favorable ecological environment, Yanggao, a county of Datong city,Shanxi province becomes the venue of the7thInternational Conference on HealthPreservation. In order to prepare for the conference, Yanggao government produces aseries of videos which respectively describe the geographical environment, culturalhistory, special food and people’s lives in Yanggao.According to the series of videos Beautiful Yanggao, The author lists andanalyzes the problems in the process of the simulated interpretation, and finds out thecorresponding measures. This report is grouped into three chapters. In the first chapter,the author gives a brief description for the background of the videos and analyzes thefeatures of the videos and the audience. In the second chapter, the author mainlydescribes the process of the simulated interpretation. The author finds out someproblems from the video of simulated interpretation, such as, the interference ofdialect, misunderstanding and misinterpreting of the proper noun and the influence ofthe poems and long sentences. Meanwhile, the author analyzes the cause of theseproblems, mainly because the author is weak in listening dialect and in understandingthe special geographical names and foods. In the third chapter, the author puts forwardthe strategies to solve the problems that are proposed in the second chapter, such as,strengthening the listening training in dialects, improving the psychological quality ofthe interpreter, broadening the cultural knowledge of the interpreter and enhancing theapplication of translation strategies. In the conclusion part, the author concludesinterpreting experience and lessons on the basis of the analysis for the wholeinterpreting process.
