This paper is a Japanese-Chinese translation practice report, whose translation task is selected from the first chapter of the Book—To Challenge The Science<Chemical> Japan EJU Measures published by BOOK GUIDE. According to the translation skopos theory, translation is a kind of human behavior with motivation and purposes;, the purpose of translation decides the whole translation behavior. And this provides a theoretical guidance for the translation of chemistry teaching material. In this paper, by making a comparison between Japanese original text and Chinese version, the author lists a large number of specific cases, and illustrates how translation methods are used in the translation practice in combination with the viewpoints of translation skopos theory.This paper is divided into four parts. The introduction which is also the first chapter introduces the researching background、significance and content. Chapter II reviewed the researching question, summed up the chemistry textbook translation problems at home and abroad since the1940s.The third chapter carried out analysis of the specific case under the guidance of teleology. First of all, the paper will take an overview of the specific content and principle of the teleology which has been the theoretical guide for this paper; and then introduce the characteristics of the chemical professional terminology. At last by the analysis of several translation method examples, the translation method of this paper could be summarized as following five methods:literal translation, free translation, adding translation, reduction method and translation method of long difficult sentences. Finally, there is a summary of this chapter. Chapter IV is on the basis of the third chapter that summarizes the quality requirements of a professional translator and translation revelation.
