As a subject of Chinese painting in traditional mode, figure of Chinese ink painting is one of the most important expressing types of the Chinese painting. It is a major way to cultivate students’aesthetic cultural quality in institution of higher learning by carrying out the teaching of figure of Chinese ink painting, which is also a significant part of passing down and carrying forward traditional national culture. Therefore, the teaching of figure of Chinese ink painting enjoys higher status in teaching Chinese ink painting in Chinese colleges and universities.Presently, the teaching of figure of Chinese ink painting in Chinese colleges and universities has achieved unprecedented success. Their calligraphy and types in particular have made historic breakthroughs. With the rapid development and the teaching reform of the fine arts, however, problems inside the teaching system have gradually come out by a cyclic mode that the old ones have not been basically solved while the new ones have been produced. How to reform and create the system of teaching figure of Chinese ink painting has been a question gradually presented before us.The thesis conducts a systematic study of the teaching of figure of Chinese ink painting in colleges and universities. It sorts out and discusses the past, present situation and future of teaching the figure of Chinese ink painting. Chapter one is the introduction to the development of figure of Chinese ink painting. It mainly elaborates the brief history of figure of Chinese ink painting and characteristics of major stages of its thoughts and theories. Chapter two is the development of figure of Chinese ink painting in present age. After the introduction to the regional characteristics of the development of figure of Chinese ink painting in colleges and universities from1919to2000, there follows the basic characteristics of development of teaching the figure of Chinese ink painting in colleges and universities in present age. Chapter three is the present situation and future of teaching figure of Chinese ink painting in institution of higher learning in the present age by studying and exploring such aspects as cultural merging, transition of the age and nationality under the multi-pattern. The last part gives the conclusion and points out the prospect of teaching figure of Chinese ink painting in institution in higher leaning.
