Laugher is the origin of humor. The paper mainly focuses on the discussion of typical Chinese Humor and its values, as well as how to apply Chinese humor in the cross-cultural context. The core standards of Chinese humor are Reflection, Coordination and Ductility. The research of Chinese humor is influential in many areas, especially in the career of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. Since Chinese humor contains lots of universal values, it helps Chinese learners getting a better understanding of Chinese language and culture, as well as enhancing multicultural communication.This thesis is consisting of five parts. The first part is the pre-opening part, which explains the goals and meaning of studying Chinese Humor, various kinds of research methods, and the originality and creativity of the paper. The second part illustrates the historical development of Humor and the definition and function of Chinese Humor. The third part is about the multi-dimensional linguistic analysis of Chinese Humor, which focuses on typical Chinese Jokes, Chinese Novels, and Chinese Daily Conversation. The fourth part demonstrates the practical skills of applying Chinese Humor in the Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language classes and provides numerals real-life scenarios. The last part is the summary, concluding all the theories and principles as well as offering suggestion on how to use appropriate Chinese Humor in the Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language classes.The features of Chinese Humor are as followings:firstly, Chinese Humor surpasses the superficial hilariousness and demonstrates the deep linguistic beauty in its content. Secondly, Chinese Humor is a compound style of humor. In addition, Chinese Humor usually has its goals in relieving the stress caused by social interaction, which can be applied to the Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language classes. Chinese Humor is the ideal representation of Chinese Cultural Value, the combination of Harmony and Difference.Based on the reality of past linguistic study on Humor, although there are some achievements in different aspects such as social linguistics, psycho-linguistics and cognitive linguistics, a blind spot still exists in the study of Chinese Humor. Therefore, all the evidence shows that it is the right time to build up a foundational system of studying Chinese Humor and how to practice appropriate Chinese Humor in the Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language classes in order to solve the existing problems.
