| Many verbs such as “Gao( 搞)” “Gan( 干)” “Nong( 弄)”“Zuo( 做)”are classified as a subcategory named Universal verb because of their widely using and fuzzy meaning. The study of Universal verb is developing at present. For example,“Nong(弄)” has a broad sense and a high frequency of use, but the study on it is not enough to reveal the features in modern Chinese. Through collecting the meaning of “Nong(弄)” in different modern Chinese dictionary, this paper finds it that “Nong( 弄)” probably has five kinds of meaning. However, the meaning of“ Nong( 弄)” is far from simple in language communication and its English expressions are also different. The paper aims to analyze the feature of“ Nong(弄)” in the semantic, syntactic and pragmatic function, and to compare the difference between “Nong(弄)” and its English expressions. Finally, this paper still discusses “Nong(弄)” and Teaching Chinese as a foreign language including the foreign students’ mistakes of “Nong(弄)” in their composition and the analysis of teaching strategies based on “Nong(弄)” in teaching materials of Teaching Chinese as a foreign language. |
