The Similarities And Differences Of Bao Zhao And Xie Lingyun’s Thoughts And Aesthetic Orientation

Yuan Jia literature is in the critical period of transit between the Jin literature and the northern and southern literature. It also plays a very important role in the history of the development of Chinese ancient literature.Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun, as great writers of Yuan Jia literature, have a profound influence on later generations. Though researchers of past time have gotten great record in Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun study,their attention to contrast between the two men basically stay in the comparison of their landscape poetry. Therefore,to be based on previous study and their literary works, this essay attempts to begin with study on life experience and personality of the two men for the purpose of gaining a more comprehensive understanding about similarities and differences of Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun’s thoughts and aesthetic orientation.What is more,it may deepen the research and cognition of Yuan Jia literature.The thesis is divided into three parts:The first part is general introduction.By reviewing the previous study,I learn from their experience and find the insufficient in the course of their study. According to the review, I put forward thinking of writing and critical points of my own research.The second part is composed of four chapters: Chapter1.’Combining with Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun’s life experience, this chapter focuses on the same points of aloof,fortitude and the differences between blindly arrogant and upright in their personality.And it also analyzes the similarities and differences of Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun’s pursuit of personality when they are faced with political frustration.Chapter2:To begin with their strong desire to achieve feats in politics and their status as great writers, this chapter sets forth the similarities and differences of Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun’s political thought and literary thought. Much more than this,whether their political aspirations come true or not and their distinctive subtlety as writers are closely related to their sense of life consciousness,so Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun’s sense of life consciousness is another aspect to which this chapter pay attention.Chapter3:As representative writers of Yuan Jia literature, Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun ’s main achievement is their poetry. This chapter focuses on the similarities and differences of Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun ’s landscape poetry and folk Songs and Ballads by way of comparing with their poetry genre and their choices of poetry subjects.Chapter4:Combining with Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun’s Fu and articles, this chapter analyzes the similarities and differences of the two men s this part of works, in order to hold a overall understanding of Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun’s aesthetic pursuit.The third part is a conclusion. This part is aimed at elaborating the great impact Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun make on later generations and further confirmation of Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun’s profound thought and great charm of their works in order to deepen the significance of contrastive study on Bao Zhao and Xie Lingyun.
